Puzzlement

Skeet me the fragrance of your feelings
in familiar language, not the utterances
we pick up as acrimony replaces amour,
I hum to myself on a rare day but hatred
isn’t hodiernal. It simmers and stays.

You recite weather-beaten theories on ad
feminam when I gently chide you for the
excessive chilies in the dish at din-din.
When harmony is on a hiatus, one is face-
to-face with a firing squad.

Your glutinous qualities require a chain saw
of words to release me from their grip. I pay
in the blood of longanimity for carte blanche
to earn wings. What prods me to flow to your
frame? Is it predetermined?

Sanjeev Sethi has authored seven books of poetry. His last two: Strokes of Solace (CLASSIX, an imprint of Hawakal, Delhi, July 2022) and Wrappings in Bespoke (The Hedgehog Poetry Press, UK, August 2022). He is published in over thirty countries. His poems have found a home in more than 390 journals, anthologies, and online literary venues. Recent credits: North Dakota Quarterly, K’in Literary Journal, Stand Magazine, Erbacce Journal, Amphora Magazine, and NOON | journal of the short poem, among others. “Intelligent Water“

Sanjeev Sethi’s poetry has the ebb and flow of intelligent water. ‘Hesitancies’ is a river of words that will take you on a journey to the far corners of the poet’s mind. Sanjeev packs enormous emotion into small spaces within this collection, some poems being only 5 lines long, and he is a true wordsmith. This book is a beautiful representation of the craft. Seamlessly shifting between the subjects of childhood, family, life experiences, and simple observations written from a philosophical point of view. This is an incredible collection of poetry, highly recommended.
