John is a social worker working in the field of disability management and holds degrees in social work, rehabilitation services, and psychology. He is the author of five books of poetry: March (2019), The Seasons of Us (2019), New Days (2020), Fragments (2021), and A Long Walk (2023). His work has appeared widely in numerous literary journals, magazines, and anthologies internationally. John is also a Pushcart Prize and Best of the Net nominee and lives in Caledon Ontario, Canada with his wife and two children.

This collection is the admonition “To walk a mile in someone else’s shoes.” represented in written form. Memories of shining moments and dark corners. In John’s pursuit of happiness and peace of mind. With a desire to live in tune and leave behind a residue of humanness.

Blind
In the Bowery
Like a pack of unwound
Souls
Scurrying into dead-end
Alleys
With a lust for broken life
Where we fell
Head over heels
Night after night
On the sidewalk’s
Scraped memories
In a town
Of faded tomorrows
And the punk
Neo-beat drumming
Of sharpened
Neglect

Deep Down

A cataclysmic eruption
Along the refractions
Of a distant equinox
A vicious battle
Of fear
Over favour
A greed
Of serpent like
Survival
Cold in movement
And distant
To the touch
With a message
Of caution
For the future
Echoing
In deep tunnels
Through worlds
Long forgotten
