Shoeboxes on the Moon

A sentiment is consuming my existence
I need another shoebox
I will claim this from the moon with insistence

In times of questioning I go to the moon
I’m there alone
and there in a blink are boxes

I hear the one calling the loudest
I move closer
to catch in a snatch lost words

Red…
shoebox on the moon
hide my anger said

Green…
shoebox on the moon
hide my jealousy seen

Blue…
shoebox on the moon
hide my thoughts taboo

For sentiment full of death
I demand a black box
I want that shoebox before I take another breath

Television man is hazy
Heart bleeds remorse
This wrong horse

Alive With No Regrets

When my family departed here earlier this evening my brother’s wife remarked in passing, “I’m so glad you’re not dead.”

I could only reply, “Me too. It does free up the senses, doesn’t it?”

She looked at me and smiled and then they closed the door and it was another day here, just me here alone with my cat. Still not dead yet.

Solitary Death Notice

Alone!
I cried out.
Priest says, Go online, I’m not a dating site.
Mother says, Go online, I’m not a dating site.
Father says, Go online, I’m not a dating site.
Sister says, Go online, I’m not a dating site.
Brother says, Go online, I’m not a dating site.
Friend says, Go online, I’m not a dating site,
Community shouts, Go online, we’re not a dating site!
OK!
I Went online.
Found a dating site.
Met a killer.
Taste for blood.
Days later stink gave me away.
Pronounced dead in my home.
