Cajun Mutt Press Writing Contest & NON no.6!!!

I’ve been working on the cover art for Night Owl Narrative no.6, “Hunter S.keletor Thompson!” Enormous thanks to everyone who’s sent some work so far. Submissions are open for the rest of the year. You can find the guidelines HERE.

Also, it’s time for the official rules and submission guidelines for the first-ever Cajun Mutt Press Writing Contest, with guest judge Leland Locke! There are three categories: Poetry, Flash Fiction, and Short Story. $10 entry fee for each category, and the winners receive $50 each. One winner per category; no second or third place. Contestants are only allowed to submit to one category. If you write all three, pick your strongest suit. Submissions are open from today until November 1st, and winners will be paid on December 22nd. Who doesn’t need a little extra $ right before Christmas? The winning pieces will also be printed in Night Owl Narrative no.6 in January, and the three winners will receive free copies of the magazine.

To submit, send ONE piece in your chosen category to cajunmuttpress@gmail[dot]com, sent in a document set to 8×11. Add POETRY CONTEST/CATEGORY/YOUR NAME in the subject line of the email. No theme, and no length limit, but keep it reasonable. Nothing vulgar or 100 pages long. No bios, no author pics either. They’ll be requested from the winners along with their addresses for their free copy of NON. Winners will be notified on December 21st and paid on the 22nd. Their magazines will be ordered on Jan. 1st.

Submissions Window: August 31st – November 1st
Entry Fee: $10
Prizes: $50, your work published in Night Owl Narrative, and a free copy of the magazine.

Send the submission fee to paypal.me/JDCIV and include your name and the category you’re submitting to. I prefer PayPal, but feel free to reach out if you need an alternative payment method. I also have CashApp and Venmo.

I’ll read through the submissions once they’re closed, and send Leland my top three in each category so he can select the winners. Here’s an introduction to your guest judge:

Leland Locke grew up in Deerfield, OH, and currently lives in Swoope, VA. Brother Locke has been working The Word for over ten years. Studied philosophy, sociology, and literature at Kent State University, Ohio University, University of Akron, and Breyer State University.
