June 2024 CMP Featured Writers

I know I’m a day late, but here’s the monthly rundown for June. Yesterday got away from me. It rained all day and the internet connection was spotty. I kept telling myself I’d do it when it stopped raining but it didn’t happen. The rain kept coming. Then I ate a late supper and started falling asleep on the couch; decided to go to bed.

Today was a matter of procrastination. I’d planned on posting this when I woke up, but that didn’t happen either. Sat at my desk for most of the day trying to figure out what to type. Staring at a blank screen, as most writers do, until I felt a spark. Now it’s almost 8pm and I’m just getting this posted, but better late than never.

That’s been the problem lately—: finding the spark. Even though I have a lot to be thankful for I’ve been letting depression get the better of me. Overthinking past decisions and beating myself up for various reasons. Some valid, some not. I need to claw my way out of this funk.

With all that being said, issue 5 of Night Owl Narrative still isn’t ready. It was discouraging when everything got deleted, and I’ve been putting it off to get other projects finished. I still plan on publishing the magazine, it’s slowly coming back together. I just decided to focus on the books I’ve been working on first. So be on the lookout for THE CRITIC AND OTHER STORIES by Olafur Gunnarsson, EVERYTHING MUST GO by Dan Flore III, and WICKED WAYNE by Anthony Allen. I’ll be posting cover reveals and release dates soon. Beginning with Olafur Gunnarsson’s book.

The magazine will resume next month. Featuring cover art by Chris Dean inspired by Ron Whitehead’s “Storm Generation Manifesto.” I’m also looking forward to seeing them and many other good friends at Insomniacathon in July! Hopefully, there I’ll find the spark that’s been missing. Apologies for the delay. I’ll have everything back on track eventually. Stay tuned for more details.
