Saudade
Amid happiness
lies the burning
of security
fueled by loss
This is the melancholy
with a name so tightly
knit into a shroud
blanketing this
relentless yearning
As I keep his image
alive on my altar
I keep wishing
I keep praying
I keep hurting
Perhaps one day
my tears will harbor
eighteen carat gold
One day I won’t be green
to the ways of love
But the heart chakra
radiates like an emerald
I am not alone in my
struggles to maintain
amid dysphoria with
a Portuguese name
Saline coagulates
every inspiring word
as depression remains
in a solid state
