now here is a scene I can enjoy
I thought
as I pulled up
a grandmother
crashing into a steel
bollard
at the speed
of soup
dribbling
off a spoon
some children
walking home
from school
jumping around
her 1975 Nissan
frantically trying to help
while in fits
of laughter
a motorcyclist
stopping
to see her back
& almost
losing a toe
the bus driver
slowing to see
what all the fuss
is about
& the indifferent trees
privy to all
watching on
as whole years
live & die
in single a morning’s work
