Engrave
Skinny-dipping in rye whiskey nights
I’d like to forget if I only remember
you are my last cigarette in the morning
what was it you were saying last night?
Something about getting a boat and going all kung-fu like leaving the world behind
I remember writer’s block
and aiming for the big cheese
I was laying on my back with my dreams
I inhaled, you inhaled, we both exhaled with ease
Isn’t it wild?
we go back further than you think
before there was a moon in the sky
you spill blood and I drink ink
Dangling my toes into the ether
looking into your eyes for a different point of view
here comes that old flame
it’s just the spark I needed
dawn comes and she brings me to my knees
no other place I’d rather be
I spill my soul and you spill the wine
we’ll make it in another lifetime
So send along a lifeline
and even on my worst day
I’ll have the best time
all because of you
