Tim’s Amnesia
Tim writes a stork down, the gulls,
and -‘I met a woman by the littoral line.
She played throwing with her dog, claimed,
“I hate everything except cats.”
I saw the waves revealed a skeleton.
Whose spirit did empty it there?’
Perhaps these notes will
save Tim from the future.
His doctor shifts some pills.
Returning Tim scribes-
‘I saw a skeleton between two clouds,
and the spirit buried in the sand,
already mellowed by time.
Was it a woman’s?
I should burn the notes to save the past.’
The gulls whiten the sky grey a little.
Just a little.
