Keep Looking

Plant flowers whose faces
you forget in the night. Arrange
towels artfully as though
they’ve never been used. Something
has to feed the dark. I’ve made
a list of ways not to die. First,
say my name the way you did before
you knew me. Second, make
another list. When the sink stops
dripping, find something else
to fix. The secret to living
forever is to never remember
where you left death. Probably
stuck it in the freezer again.
Or maybe it’s been on top
of your head this whole time.
